Fabiano de Sousa Chaves received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, in 2003 and 2005. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, and the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan (ENS-Cachan), France, in 2010.
He has over 12 years of experience in research in the field of wireless communications and signal processing. From 2003 to 2006 he was with Wireless Telecommunications Research Group (GTEL), Fortaleza, Brazil, working in cooperation with Ericsson Research on advanced radio resource management techniques for 3G systems and beyond. From 2011 to 2015 he was with Nokia Institute of Technology (INdT), Manaus, Brazil, where he worked on TV White Spaces design and regulation, Wi-Fi MAC layer enhancement, LTE/Wi-Fi co-existence in unlicensed bands, and CEPT spectrum regulation. In 2015 he joined Nokia Bell Labs, Wroclaw, Poland, as a 5G Senior Radio Research Engineer, where he has been working on 5G co-existence and deployment research, and contributing to 5G regulation as an ITU delegate.
